Pharmaceutical research within Novartis is conducted primarily through the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and with locations worldwide, NIBR is committed to discovering innovative medicines that treat disease and improve the lives of patients. NIBR scientists strive to improve the drug discovery process by pursuing a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach that integrates novel concepts across multiple disease areas.

Corporate Research

The mission of Novartis Corporate Research is to leverage specific scientific knowledge from four institutes to contribute to our goal of addressing unmet medical needs. Corporate Research deploys scientists in four sites:

• The Novartis Institute for Tropical Diseases in Singapore (NITD)
• The Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation in La Jolla, California (GNF)
• The Friedrich Miescher Institute in Basel (FMI)
• Novartis Vaccines Institute for Global Health (NVGH)
