Susanne Schaffert, Head of Oncology, Novartis Pharma, Germany, is excited by the diverse skill set she is developing through her job at Novartis:

"In my role I lead three departments: marketing, sales and clinical development. My main responsibilities are for the strategic direction of the business unit, and to represent the unit to external customers and within Novartis Germany.

I’m particularly proud of that fact that I led the team to move one of our key oncology products from a global ranking of 11 to five within two years. To support this product, I’m now working on a national awareness campaign for acromegaly, a very rare disease. This means working with an advisory board of oncologists, psychologists and patient assistants.

To do this job you need leadership skills and the ability to create a motivational environment and set clear direction. You need to be well-organized and action-oriented.
