The 46 projects submitted in 2008 to the Novartis Energy Excellence Awards have led to cost savings of USD 17 million, representing 5% of our total energy costs.

During 2008, Novartis increased research and development investments by 12% to USD 7.2 billion. This is one of the highest figures in the industry relative to sales (17.4%).
