Consecutive dividend increases since 1996
The Novartis Board of Directors proposed a 25% increase in the dividend payment for 2008 to CHF 2.00 per share (2007: CHF 1.60), and shareholders approved the increase at the Annual General Meeting on February 24, 2009. This represented the twelfth consecutive increase in the dividend per share since the creation of Novartis in December 1996.
