The Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics Division provides more than 20 products to fight vaccine-preventable viral and bacterial diseases. It also makes sophisticated equipment to test blood donations for infections.

The division consists of two businesses:

	PROCLEIX WNV Assay The first Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) solution approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for qualitative detection of the West Nile virus in RNA plasma specimens from individual donors of blood, organs, cells and tissues

	PROCLEIX HIV-1/HCV Assay Detects HIV and HCV in a single tube, thanks to transcription-mediated amplification (TMA) technology, and was the first NAT solution to be approved for blood screening in the US and to receive the CE Mark in Europe

	PROCLEIX ULTRIO Assay Designed to combine the early detection capabilities of NAT with single-tube TMA technology to deliver simultaneous results for HIV-1, HCV and HBV
